How to maximize your launch success
Between 25 and 45 products launch on Uneed every day. The ones that do well aren't usually the best products — they're the ones whose makers prepared. Here's what that looks like.
Two weeks before
Get your assets right. Your listing is the whole pitch. Uneed pulls everything from what you filled in at submission, and editing is free, so iterate on it:
- A tagline that says what the product does, not what it aspires to be. "Async standup tool for remote teams" beats "Reimagining how teams connect."
- A logo that reads at small sizes. Your listing appears as a small card among dozens of others.
- Screenshots of the actual product, not marketing illustrations. The first image does most of the work.
- A description that answers "who is this for and why now." Short paragraphs. No wall of text.
Pick the right day. Tuesday to Thursday for B2B and productivity tools; weekends have less competition but less traffic. Full breakdown in When to launch your product. Note that picking your own date requires Skip the Waiting Line — Fast-track assigns you an automatic slot about two weeks out, and on the free queue the next available slot is assigned to you automatically once you join the line.
Set up a deal. A launch-day discount measurably increases clicks through to your site, and it gets you a "Deals" badge on the listing. See How to set up a deal.
The week before
Warn your audience. Not on the day — before it. Email your list, tell your Discord, post in the communities you're actually part of. People need to know it's coming, otherwise you're relying on them checking Uneed at random.
Write your posts in advance. Launch day is chaotic. Have your X/LinkedIn posts, your newsletter and your community messages drafted and ready to fire.
Post in the Uneed Community. Introduce yourself and what you're building before launch day. A cold account that only shows up to ask for votes gets ignored — and posting a promo in your very first post is against the community guidelines.
Launch day
Show up early. Your page goes live at 12:00 AM PST. Being active from the start of the day matters more than a late push.
Answer every comment. This is the highest-leverage thing you can do. Makers who reply thoughtfully get remembered, get feedback, and get more votes.
Spread the word through the day, not all at once. A steady stream of real people from identifiable places looks like what it is: genuine interest.
Don't buy votes. We detect it, we remove the votes, and repeat offenders get banned. See Why upvotes get removed.
Don't spam DMs. Asking strangers for upvotes by direct message is the fastest way to get banned from the community.
The 10-upvote floor
Free launches need 10 upvotes to stay published. It's a low bar deliberately — it exists to filter out submissions nobody cared about at all, not to make you compete.
If you can't be confident of clearing it, a paid launch removes the question entirely: Fast-track ($14.99) and Skip the Waiting Line ($29.99) both stay published with a permanent do-follow backlink whatever happens. Details in What happens if my launch doesn't get 10 upvotes.
After the day
